I will like to welcome you to the Department of Information and Communication Technology domiciled in the Faculty of Computing complex, the University of Delta main campus, Agbor, Delta State. The Department is one of the four Departments that the National Universities Commission (NUC) ought to have authorized for the new University's September 2021 opening, however the University received approval to start and begun accepting students for the 2022/2023 academic year. While others have commenced academic activities since September 2021.

Today almost all industries are rapidly evolving with the aid of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Such industries are assisted by an increasing number of intelligent and smart devices which have been inbuilt or embedded computing solutions. Thus, there is a strong demand for multidisciplinary ICT professionals around the globe including Nigeria. The Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology Honours degree program offered by the Department of Information and Communication Technology, Faculty of Computing, University of Delta, Agbor, aims at producing Information and Communication Technology graduates with sufficient professional knowledge and skills to manage organizations’ computing infrastructure and provide adequate support for computer users in order to enhance productivity and increase business value.

Furthermore, the graduates produced under this programme would be given sufficient additional knowledge on complementary subjects and industrial training to work as a professional ICT experts with leadership and management skills. The prospective undergraduates are selected through JAMB scores and have five (5) relevant O level credits.

Overall, students will be trained to serves as Network Professionals, Database Administrators, System Administrators, DevOps Engineers and many other ICT professionals for the Information and Communication Technology industry.

Objectives

The objectives of the programme are to:

1. provide students with a broad knowledge and practical skills in Information and Communication Technology;

2. empower students to be problem-solvers through Information and Communication Technologies tools;

3. equip students with the capacity for professional practice in the Information and Communication Technology sector.
